Our Story

Unilabs was founded in 1987 as three diagnostic laboratories in Switzerland and quickly expanded by acquiring high-quality partner laboratories across Europe. In 2007, Unilabs merged with the prominent imaging diagnostics company Capio, which operated in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, and the UK. This merger established Unilabs as the undisputed leader in diagnostics across Europe.

Unilabs Pharma Solutions is a division of Unilabs that focuses on pharmaceutical testing and research. Operating laboratories in York and Sandwich (UK) and Copenhagen (DK), the division serves pharmaceutical companies, CROs, biotechs, and healthcare institutions worldwide. With decades of successful studies, it offers a full range of services, from late-stage drug discovery through clinical trials to post-market support.

1932

Danish lab founded by two Danish doctors, launching first analysis for Danish healthcare system with focus on esoteric testing

1988

Danish Clinical Trials department established, marking entry into pharmaceutical services

1999

York Bioanalytical Solutions founded by four bioanalytical scientists, relocating to purpose-built facility at Northminster Business Park in 2002

2008

Unilabs acquires York Bioanalytical Solutions, and merges with Capio Diagnostic (owner of the Danish lab since 1997) under the Unilabs name

2011

Expansion with new discovery and metabolism services laboratories at Discovery Park in Sandwich, Kent

2021

Acquisition of Unilabs by A.P. Møller Holding, marking new era of ownership

2023

Formation of Unilabs Pharma Solutions as a business unit within Unilabs
